Question

Mineral storage: reaction rate or materials handling?

Carbonyz Editors

Mineral storage has the nicest end state: carbonate solids are easy to understand. The difficult part is getting there without pretending crushing, heat, water and transport are free.

Matter et al. is the field reference many people know: doi:10.1126/science.aad8132. Snaebjornsdottir et al. is a useful review: doi:10.1038/s43017-019-0011-8. Renforth on alkaline materials helps with the resource-scale question: doi:10.1038/s41467-019-09475-5.

For a new mineralization project, what would you ask first: dissolution kinetics, rock supply, grinding energy, water use, heat integration, or MRV?
