Question
Which monitoring result makes geological storage feel proven?
Geological storage has a much stronger evidence base than most carbon-removal debates make it sound, but "permanent" still needs to be translated into monitoring evidence people can inspect.
Sleipner is the obvious long-running reference: doi:10.1016/j.egypro.2017.03.1523. For storage security, Alcalde et al. is a useful quantitative starting point: doi:10.1038/s41467-018-04423-1. Krevor et al. gives the broader subsurface view: doi:10.1038/s43017-022-00376-8.
If you had to explain confidence to a non-specialist, would you start with plume imaging, pressure history, caprock integrity, residual trapping, mineral trapping, or something else?
